How can I change my availability?
|
|
Where do I start?
First of all log into the system using the User Id and Password you have been given. When you are logged in: Create a squad - you can have more than one if you want. Add participants to the squad. Add events (including practice sessions) to the squad. Change event availability for participants at events. Create a crew list for an event – The crew list will show in the availability page and is a hyperlink. Upload any documents to support an event or to be added to the menu – not too big please as I haven’t as yet set a size limit. Go the news page to change your squad header page as you’ve already been doing. Close the session and revisit the website as a participant and try changing your own availability. Try creating some challenges – see the Boys J12 – J14 site for examples.

What time do I need to arrive at an Event?
Racing usually starts at about 9.00am and continues throughout the day until about 4.00pm for Time Trials (as these are held in the winter) and 6.00pm for regattas (in the summer). Regatta events are knock-out so it is impossible to predict an exact sequence of races. It is likely that some members of the squad will be racing in more than one event. Time Trials are rowed in Divisions approximately 90 minutes apart – once again, we will sometimes enter crews in more than one division if they are considered fit enough. The Squad should plan on staying at the event for the complete day in order to both compete and support others. Parents may come and go as they please and lifts can always be arranged for Juniors at the end of the day to get them back to the Club.
Most events have excellent refreshments facilities but you should still bring food and drink to last the day which can be supplemented from the Regatta supplies. Some pocket-money will be required. A point will be nominated – usually the boat trailer – as a Club RV point.

Loading and unloading of boats.
In order to get to the event boats have to be de-rigged and loaded onto the club trailer with oars, trestles, coxswains’ life jackets and seats. This process takes about one hour and has to be done either one evening in the week before the event or on the morning of the event. As the quad boats have to go on the top rack of the trailer we need help from parents to lift them up there. Unloading takes place on the evening of the event and the boats have to be completely re-rigged ready for use the next day. This sometimes means we do not finish until 8 or 9pm.
Generally we can manage with half the squad loading and the other half unloading. Please be prepared to help at one or the other.

What happens if I'm entered into an event but I can't get there for some reason?
We will always try to find a substitute so that the remainder of the crew can race, but where we can't it is only fair that you pay for both yourself and the other members of the crew.
